Seal of Biliteracy/Sello de Alfabetización Bilingüe

 

WUHSD Seal of Biliteracy

The Seal of Biliteracy is an award given in recognition of students who have studied and attained proficiency in two or more languages by high school graduation.

Students May Qualify For:

 Golden Medallion - English + 2 More Languages

 or

Silver Medallion -   English + 1 Additional Language

You will need to meet one of the following to earn the Seal of Biliteracy:

  • Successful completion of 4 years of the same world language. (You must have a minimum grade of “B” for the second semester of your 4th year.)
  • A score of 3 or higher on the Foreign Language Advanced Placement (AP) Exam. (AP exams taken during senior year may not be used to qualify for the Seal of Biliteracy.)
  • A score of 600 or higher on the SAT Language Subject Test
  • A passing score of 80% on the WUHSD Biliteracy Competency Exam.

 

California State Seal of Biliteracy  

A student can qualify for the California State Seal of Biliteracy if they meet the district requirements and score proficient or above on their SBAC English Language Arts test.  Students will be awarded the State Seal on their high school diploma.
