Exploratory Art

Art 1

This class explores the basic elements and principles of design through the creation of two-dimensional and three-dimensional projects. Students will examine art from a variety of cultures and use art criticism to discuss their work and the work of their peers. Students will apply what they learn in the visual arts across subject areas. You will be checking out an Art Supply Pack that includes the materials you will need for our 9 week session.

Advanced Drawing & Painting

Art 2

This course builds upon the foundational knowledge gained from Art 1. Students will encounter more advanced art techniques. This class will serve as a strong creative outlet for the student who has the desire to make art, understand the reasons for making art, and how to build upon prior art knowledge. You will be checking out an Art Supply Pack that includes the materials you will need for our 9 week session.

Art 3

This course is designed for the student who has already completed Advanced Drawing/Painting (Art 2) with an above average grade, or has received instructor’s approval. These students are able to handle a more independent study approach to refining their already advanced skills within higher-level projects. It is expected that the student will take their project to the next level by applying more time, thought, and effort than an Art 2 student. You will be checking out an Art Supply Pack that includes the materials you will need for our 9 week session, but are encouraged to explore higher quality materials you seek out on your own.

Art Workshop

This course is designed for the student who has already completed Art 2 and Art 3 with an above average grade, or has received instructor’s approval, and desires to explore more advanced techniques while attempting to develop a thematic series of their work. It is crucial that the student bring their ideas, research, and motivation when planning independent projects. You will be checking out an Art Supply Pack that includes the materials you will need for our 9 week session, but are expected to already have higher quality materials at home to include in your projects.
