English Learner Advisory Committee

Comite Consejero de Padres
de Estudiantes Aprendices de Inglés
(ELAC)
What is ELAC?
The English Learner Advisory Committee is a group of parents that provides advice to the school (principal and staff) about the programs and services for EL's. Each school with 21 or more English Learners must form an ELAC committee.

What is the purpose of ELAC?
The purpose of ELAC is to provide parents of English Learners opportunities to learn about the programs offered to their children. Parents are also encouraged to participate in discussions and workshops designed to help you identify the most effective way to support their student.

ELAC advises the school on the following:
  • Advise the principal and staff on the school programs and services provided by EL's
  • Advise the school (and SSC in writing) on the development of the School Plan (SPSA) and the budget.
  • Review the results of the Language Census/ R30 report
  • Participate in a review and the development of a needs assessment, including ways to improve attendance.
